Asynapsis and meiotic restitution in tomato male meiosis induced by heat stress

چکیده
Susceptibility of the reproductive system to temperature fluctuations is a recurrent problem for crop production under changing climate. The damage complex as multiple processes in male and female gamete formation are affected, but general, particularly pollen impaired. Here, impact short periods elevated on meiosis tomato ( Solanum lycopersicon L.) reported. Meiocytes early stage flower buds exposed heat stress (>35°C) exhibit impaired homolog synapsis resulting partial complete omission chiasmata formation. In absence chiasmata, univalents segregate randomly developing unbalanced tetrads polyads aneuploid spores. However, most heat-stressed meiotic primarily contain balanced dyads, indicating propensity execute restitution. With meiocytes exhibiting loss chiasma concomitantly showing mitotic-like division, triggers first division restitution clonal These findings corroborate with plasticity establish natural route induction sexual polyploidization plants engineering seed.

Cold-Induced Male Meiotic Restitution in Arabidopsis thaliana Is Not Mediated by GA-DELLA Signaling
Short periods of cold stress induce male meiotic restitution and diploid pollen formation in Arabidopsis thaliana by specifically interfering with male meiotic cytokinesis. Similar alterations in male meiotic cell division and gametophytic ploidy stability occur when gibberellic acid (GA) signaling is perturbed in developing anthers. In this study, we found that exogenous application of GA prim...

Meiotic crossovers facilitate the segregation of homologous chromosomes and increase genetic diversity. The formation of meiotic crossovers was previously posited to occur via two pathways, with the relative use of each pathway varying between organisms; however, this paradigm could not explain all crossovers, and many of the key proteins involved were unidentified. Recent studies that identify...

متن کاملHsfA2 Controls the Activity of Developmentally and Stress-Regulated Heat Stress Protection Mechanisms in Tomato Male Reproductive Tissues.
Male reproductive tissues are more sensitive to heat stress (HS) compared to vegetative tissues, but the basis of this phenomenon is poorly understood. Heat stress transcription factors (Hsfs) regulate the transcriptional changes required for protection from HS In tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), HsfA2 acts as coactivator of HsfA1a and is one of the major Hsfs accumulating in response to elevated...
متن کاملExtensive meiotic asynapsis in mice antagonises meiotic silencing of unsynapsed chromatin and consequently disrupts meiotic sex chromosome inactivation
Chromosome synapsis during zygotene is a prerequisite for the timely homologous recombinational repair of meiotic DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). Unrepaired DSBs are thought to trigger apoptosis during midpachytene of male meiosis if synapsis fails. An early pachytene response to asynapsis is meiotic silencing of unsynapsed chromatin (MSUC), which, in normal males, silences the X and Y chromos...
